A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 2 pm at the First Covenant Church 1374 North Main Street River Falls, Wisconsin.

A map to the funeral home can be found here.

You are all welcome to attend.

Many have asked about donations, etc. I know the family has mentioned donating to the Youth Diabetes Foundation in his name. However, if you would like to donate money to directly benefit Hilden’s two daughters, please click this link and click on the “Donate” button. Every penny will be set aside for Rio and Rowan.

Also, I’ve read people questioning the cause of death and how someone so young could die in his sleep. As alluded to, Hilden struggled with diabetes all his life. And as I understand it, he had a stomach flu over the weekend, and on Sunday went to take a nap and died in his sleep. He was found a short while later. His death was sudden and a shock to us all.

Before I close, on behalf of Moe and myself: thank you all. We’ve read everything you’ve written via Twitter, email, podcast, and here on the website. Your words have helped tremendously. It reminded me that Hilden was not only our best friend, but he was a person who touched hundreds of people’s lives in sometimes profoundly meaningful ways. And though his loss has been incredibly painful, probably more than anything I’ve ever experienced, your messages mean the world to me, and I’m sure the same is true for Moe.

Thank you so much.

There’s much more to talk about and figure out, and I promise Moe and I will be sitting down to work things out as soon as we feel we’re able. But for now, we’re going to mourn the loss of our best friend.

I’m always gonna regret not calling in or sending in a poo crime, (for the record, I was this – close; god damn it fuck me!)
BUT I will never take for granted the awesome podcasts you have provided for me and every one else in the community over the years.

    Rest in Peace, Hilden

I feel privileged to have had an email read out by Hilden recently. He brought laughter and joy to all of us. For the last few years, I’ve been lifted by the sight of a new episode, instantly making my day that much better. I’ve never had such a connection to a group of people I’ve never met. It’s extraordinary how different this is to the vast majority of podcasts. It is more like sitting in with old friends than tuning in to a show.

I love you guys and I’m so sorry for your loss.

wow. Only today, when i decided to check the site to see why no episodes had been posted in a while did this interwebs hermit fins out this news. Although I have only been turning in for a little under a year, DGR had quickly became my absolute favorite sourse of giggles, much to the consternation of co-workers and the missus when i would wake her up at 3 in the morning after work listening to one of Hildens rants or a casual encounter… I honestly don’t know what to say, but feel i need to say something. for a bunch of people i have never met, i feel so cut up over the passing of one of the funniest, and seemigly talented man i have come accross ever, i feel. My heart goes out to you, John and Moe as well as his family left behind. The Dynamic the 3 of you had was just magic to listen to, whether on DGR or on the After Hours Shows i have gone back to listen to…Please accept my deepest feelings of sorrow for your loss and my deepest thanks for laughter and smiles you have graced me with. I hope that, in time, you guys can see your way back to the mics, Hildred seemed to love it so much.

Once again, much love and deepest sorrow for you loss
